The end result of representing the interests of your members is expressed in the form of policy. AMSA has policy on a number of issues relevant to medical students and regularly forms new policy as issues demand it. Policy is formed by the AMSA Executive, by AMSA Representatives and their medsocs, or by everyday medical students. A position statement put together by any or all of these parties becomes official AMSA policy when it is ratified by the AMSA Council. Once it is ratified it is then presented to the relevant bodies and made public. Some of the most recent issues on which AMSA has formed policy include the proposed creation of Private Medical Schools, the Higher Education Reforms and the introduction of Bonded Medical Places.
