AMSA National Blood Drive

Thank you

The Red Cross would like to thank AMSA for the donation of $1 845.44, which came from donations made by students upon registration to AMSA's National Convention in Brisbane in 2009. Click here to read the letter.

Did you know that Australia needs more than 26,000 blood donations each week?

Donating blood is one of the few times that as a medical student you can save a life, and not just observe. Now you can help, by donating blood between 12 July and 31 August 2010 as part of the AMSA national blood challenge. The challenge is being officially launched at National Convention.

After you donate, go to the AMSA Blood Challenge online tally at donateblood.com.au/clubred* and nominate for your donations to count towards your university. After you join, any donations you make during the donation period will automatically be added the online tally. (^the tally will remain open until September 6, so that you have time to register your donation, but please only submit donations made prior to August 31).

Get involved to make sure your university makes the most donations in this hotly contested competition.

To check if a donor mobile is visiting your campus, or to take part in your campus group donation, contact your AMSA representative.

One donation saves three lives - so imagine how many lives your university can save?

If you are a plasma donor, you are able to donate multiple times during the blood challenge period, and gain even more points for your university! Did you know that plasma donations can be used to make up to 17 different products?

Donating blood is a service to your community that all Australians should endeavor to participate in as regularly as possible, and AMSA hopes that you as medical students will go beyond a donation, and help to advocate to the rest of their community about how they too, can save lives.

For more information about blood donation, including eligibility, visit donateblood.com.au or call the Blood Service on 13 14 95.

* Your Donor ID is required to join online. You can ask for your Donor ID at the

time of donating or call the Blood Service on 13 14 95
