Medical students gather to discuss global health
Nearly 400 medical students from across the country will unite at the University of Queensland tomorrow, as the 5th Australian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) Global Health Conference begins.
The four-day event provides students with the opportunity to learn from internationally reknown speakers, to discuss and address current and pressing issues in global health and to meet like-minded peers.
AMSA President Tiffany Field explained, “ Students are able to learn about broader issues that are not addressed as part of the standard medical education.”
Tomorrow students will hear from Carolyn Hardy, Chief Executive of the Nations Children’s Fund and Dr Sujit Brahmochary, founder of the Institute for Indian Mother & Child.
Through their involvement in two such inspirational and successful organisations, these individuals will educate and motivate students to get involved and make a difference on a global scale.
