The National Charity Drive celebrates the community service achievements of individual medical societies Australia-wide. At the commencement of each year, the National Mentoring Scheme invites new medical students to buddy with senior colleagues interstate - to exchange knowledge, advice and 'stories from the field'. The National Blood Drive, held in conjunction with the Australian Red Cross Blood Service, is a public health campaign that encourages medical students to donate blood during the month of August. The medical society with the highest number of donations per capita wins the coveted Vampire Cup. The Community Bulletin Board is a forum to advertise volunteer and community service opportunities to medical students. AMSA also actively encourages its members to volunteer in organisations which may or may not have a medical flavour to them.
