AMSA’s Rural Health Summit (RHS) is the premier rural health event for medical students around Australia. There will be a diverse schedule of academic sessions, social events and workshops to create a memorable experience for delegates, encouraging continued interest in rural health. Every year RHS brings together the future rural workforce to explore all that rural health has to offer.

Rural communities are the cultural and agricultural heart of Australia, and this has never been more obvious than in recent times. The idea of a ‘beating heart’ is in reference to this often underappreciated, heavy-reliance Australia places on its rural communities, while highlighting the fact that to keep these rural towns ‘beating’ they need the urgent support of more health care professionals like us. The connotation of a beating heart can also help represent the conference itself as an upbeat, lively, exciting and supportive environment which can foster new friendships and ignite a love for rural medicine.
