Mental Health.

Rest. Relax. Regenerate.

Protecting the mental health of Australian Medical Students.

Medical students and doctors experience a higher prevalence of psychological distress and suicide than the general population. As such AMSA Mental Health aims to educate students on mental health, support those living with mental health disorder(s), and de-stigmatise the experience of living with a mental illness.

Advocacy Priorities

  • Increasing awareness of AMSA Mental Health within AMSA by increasing collaborations with other committees within the organisation and being visible at a variety of events.
  • Integrating resources to provide students with reliable information to help optimise their wellbeing.
  • Working together with other AMSA portfolios, AMSA Global Health projects, and SIGs to advocate and raise awareness for issues that are faced by individuals of different communities.
  • Working with university Community and Wellbeing reps to bring AMSA Mental Health updates closer to campus.
  • Continuing to raise awareness for a variety of mental health issues that impact medical students in Australia.
  • Continuing to support AMSA Mental Health projects that have been successful in the past such as Humans of Medicine and Culture of Medicine.
